Juan Raul Garza is scheduled to be killed by the people of the United States at 7am on June 19, 2001 in revenge for his murder of Thomas Albert Rumbo, Gilberto Matos and Erasmo de la Fuente. But not really. Actually, he was a drug dealer, and his skin is brown. True, he committed some murders, but our government does not care about THOSE victims, who were also drug dealers. In fact, because they thought the jury would also not see those victims as being valuable enough to warrant an execution, the prosecutors introduced information during sentencing about murders in Mexico that Garza was alleged (but not proven) to have also committed.... Garza is being killed not because "justice demands it," but because we CAN kill him, and because his skin is brown.
